Spring Scales

Spring scales work by measuring the effect of a measurand's weight on an expansion spring.

They are used in industry to handle many different types of loads. You can also find them in grocery stores to measure the weight of produce. Fishermen use them to measure the weight of their catch.

A typical small spring scale can handle a weight of about 10 kilograms with a resolution of 0.1 kilograms.
