Technical Interviews and Observations
External assessors should exercise judgment and caution when giving advice or demonstration after observing a laboratory technician. This may be construed as consulting and is a conflict of interest for almost all third party auditors.
Auditors should always ask permission before actually touching either the laboratory's assets or the customer's equipment. The auditor should never actually help to perform a test or calibration, even if asked, because of the possibility of liability and negative effects on the impartiality of the audit process.
Some specific suggestions for a selection of parameters to observe and what to look for is given later in this lesson.
