Inspection and disposition of manufacturing work and laboratory work both rely on correct interpretation of measurement decisions.

This is made much more difficult by the presence of uncertainty, so that those decisions are not always made in an obvious way.

International Standard ISO 14253-1:1998 addresses this issue in detail, and is also discussed in this course.
