Calibration with Torque Testers

To ensure operation within prescribed tolerance limits, calibrate the torque wrench or handle with a torque tester.

Typically, torque testers cover a torque range from 10 oz-in to 1,000 lb. ft. and have a rated accuracy of plus or minus one percent of indicated reading when used in the upper 90 percent of their range.

The torque testers themselves should be recalibrated periodically by returning them to a facility that has devices for performing this calibration.

Once the testers are received, they should not be tampered with, since any adjustment made without proper equipment will destroy the calibration of the instrument.
