Using a Torque Wrench

Special Scales

As a general rule a good scale on the torque wrench is one which the operator can read easily and quickly whenever the torque wrench is used in the majority of normal positions.

The pointer tip should not overlay more than one increment marking and be in near relation to the increment line so as to reduce the parallax error.

For some applications, the ability to read the torque wrench might be improved where direct reading torque wrenches are used if a special scale is created.

The torque wrench might be used by an inspector for checking something like the on/off switch on an oscilliscope. The speed with which an inspector might have to use this torque wrench may make it desirable to have no other markings on the scale except those representing the acceptable torque tolerance for checking this oscilliscope on/off switch.
