Break-away Torque

When this procedure is used, the static coefficient of friction must be first overcome.

This value will be greater than the dynamic friction, but the difference may be kept to a minimum with well engineered assembly conditions.

It is desirable to make this test using a torque wrench having a memory recording feature.

The operator then can concentrate on watching the socket to detect the precise moment that this moves.
